During the academic year 2020/21 the University is offering students discounted single bus tickets for the local bus operator, Lothian Buses. In Semester 2, students will be able to purchase 20 single journey tickets for £26 (reduced from £36), loaded on to the Lothian Buses Citysmart card. This reduces the cost of a single journey from £1.80 to £1.30. To use the card, users simply need to hold it against the card reader as they board a bus, and a single journey will be deducted. The scheme has been provided to support students to use a public bus when walking or cycling is not possible. In line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidelines, students are reminded that if they need to travel then walking or cycling should be their first choice and use of public transport should be kept to a minimum. The scheme is only open to University of Edinburgh students who are limited to a single purchase of 20 tickets during Semester 2. The tickets can be purchased using a credit or debit card via the University of Edinburgh ePay system: https://edin.ac/338Zt6o. Orders will be processed weekly. Orders received by 9am on a Tuesday will be processed and cards posted out on the Thursday. This offer is only available by ordering via the University of Edinburgh ePay system, but for more information on how the Citysmart card works: www.lothianbuses.com/product/citysmart-20-adult-single-journeys-includes-2-card-charge.
