Bike racks

Open-access bike racks are located across the University, generally in locations convenient to building entrances.

Bike stores

The University provides enclosed bike stores at key locations around our campuses. These protect your bike from the elements and provide an additional element of security - but you should be aware that any bike or personal property left in a University bike store is done so at your own risk.

Access to the stores is usually by your University staff/student card & PIN. Some stores use a key or coded lock. Keys and codes are supplied either by the Transport and Parking Office, or a member of staff local to the store. Any staff or students wishing to utilise these facilities should get in touch with the relevant contact for each store which are listed using the links below.

Abandoned bikes

Please note that bike stores are provided for the benefit of day-to-day commuters, and are not meant for long-term storage. Bikes which appear to have been abandoned are regularly removed.

  • Always ensure the door is fully shut and locked behind you
  • Never let other people follow you in.
  • Report all maintenance issues to transport@ed.ac.uk so we can investigate and arrange repairs.
  • Report suspicious activity to Security on 0131 650 2257
