University Shuttle Bus

We provide a free shuttle service for students and staff who need to travel rapidly between Central Area and King's Buildings to meet their academic timetable.

For commuting to and from home please use alternatives such as walking, cycling or public bus services. The service is for students and staff, a University student or staff card must be produced to the driver when boarding. Access will be denied if a valid University card cannot be provided.

Timetable 2025-26

The shuttle bus will operate Monday - Friday during semester time only:

  • Monday 8th September - Friday 19th December
  • Monday 12th January - Friday 3rd April
  • Monday 20th April - Friday 22nd May 

The bus picks up and drops off in Central Area and King's Buildings only.

Priority Users & Reserved Seating

The Shuttle Service is provided for students and staff who need to travel rapidly between Central Area and King's Buildings to meet their academic timetable. It is not intended as a commuter service.

The shuttle service is very busy at the start and end of the day, and at lunchtimes. There is no guarantee that the service will be able to pick up all waiting passengers.

Staff may board the service ahead of students by showing their staff card. Students who are required to make essential study related journeys between the Central Area and King's Buildings within a tight deadline may apply for a priority permit. This entitles permit holders priority over and above other students. Priority Permits are issued by Schools within the College of Science and Engineering, and applications should be made to your school's Teaching Office or Student Support team.

The first 10 seats of the shuttle bus must be left free for staff and priority permit holders until departure.

When services are full, the drivers will ask any additional students to wait until 1 minute before departure so that staff and priority permit holders have a the opportunity to get on board and use the priority seats. If no staff / priority permits arrive, waiting additional students are allowed on at 1 minute before departure.
