Adaptive Bikes

Adaptive bikes make cycling accessible to people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. The Thistle Foundation have a wide range of adaptive bikes to try out.

Adaptive bicycles come in a variety of designs that enable people with disabilities or long-term health conditions to get around by bike. Examples include hand-cycles, tricycles, recumbents, and side-by-side bikes.

The Thistle Foundation have a fleet of adaptive bikes that can be tried out at weekly sessions at both Saughton Park and Craigmillar. This enables individuals living with long-term health conditions, disabilities, and challenging circumstances to experience the joy of cycling, fostering confidence and wellbeing.

The Cycle To Work scheme can be used by staff members wishing to purchase an adaptive bike. Applications for adaptive bikes are eligible to go above the usual £3000 limit if required to purchase a suitable bike.
