The University and Police Scotland are working together to promote bike security. Bike marking is being promoted to improve cycle security. Bike marking is intended to deter theft as your bike will be less attractive as a theft target. It also involves a bike database, which matches bikes with their rightful owners if a bike is recovered by the police following a theft. The University's Security Section run bike marking events through out the year, and often attend Dr Bike sessions too. They provide free bike security marking to University students and staff, and sell D-locks for £15. Find out about upcoming Dr Bike sessions near you. You can also collect a free bike marking kit from the Parking Office at 13 Infirmary Street, and apply it to your bike yourself. The Parking Office also sells D-Locks for £15.
